A wonderful and accessible follow up to Oord’s previous work “The Uncontrolling Love of God.”

In “God Can’t”, Oord taps into something that feels both unfamiliar and beautiful. Something that is equal parts journey to peace, permission to grieve, and call to action. The God of uncontrolling love is the only God I know that can truly rejoice with me, grieve with me, be in the trenches with me, and ultimately feel what I feel. This God doesn’t command or control from a far off place. He labors alongside me which means when we fail, he fails with me, and when we succeed, we succeed together.

“God Can’t” explores both our place and God’s place in the middle of suffering. It is an important work for anyone who has suffered or witnessed suffering, which is all of us.
